THE SCHOOL
SOU ''St. St. Cyril and Methodius'' is situated in the central part of the town of Vidin, near the Danube River.It is easy to reach it from everywhere and also the train station , the bus station and the port are nearby.
Currently in ''St. St. Cyril and Methodius'' there are 940 students in 44 classes and 88 teachers. Lyubomir Milanov is the principal of the school and Jasmina Aleksandrova, Antonina Petrova and Katja Tsokova are the Vice-Principals. The school programmes comprise pre-school education to 12 class.
The school has cosy classrooms, art and music classrooms, dance halls ,gyms and new computer labs with contemporary equipment and Internet access.The school has received funds from a project from the Ministry of Education and Science and thus the building had been remodelled aluminum woodwork .There is a lift for students with disabilities.
The school has 24 hours security system.
The students may use the city students’ hostel if they wish.
In its history the school in Vidin wears with pride the name of the two Slav’s first teachers – the saint brothers Cyril and Methodius. The school was situated in 1885 firstly as a class school, then in 1968 it becomes primary and in 1980 a secondary school.
In its newest history SOU “St. St. Cyril and Methodius” establishes as the only one in the region specialized in the sphere or arts. The beginning was set when special classes in arts were found. In 1989 another profile of “Music” was found and in 1993 the profile “Choreography”. A whole continuity is established in 1993-1994 school year when there were primary and secondary classes with expanded studying of art, music and choreography.
The universal language of art helps the students to make themselves creative personalities with rich spirits, capable to orientate and realize themselves in the contemporary reality, to withstand their rights of national, ethnical and religious personal originality.
The creative atmosphere, the studying in studios, vocal groups, camera and dance teams form talented young people who can communicate with art, create art and realize themselves in the sphere of art.
